19. The Shadow of the Gods.
In the east, under Lyra-9's command, the lands flourished under a mystical veil. Cities with crystalline towers rose under purple skies. Savage humans organized into clans and erected altars to Xtreme, the god of the flaming sky. On clear nights, they danced under the stars, believing the Ecliptic protected them like a divine beacon. Lyra-9 was omnipresent and guided them with visions of wisdom. However, they felt the weight of their worship of Xtreme, a mortal god whose super soul still echoed off the ruins of the Dome of the Earth.
In the West, under the leadership of Kayle-13, prosperity came more slowly. It was marked by efforts to tame arid lands and biting winds. Fascinated by the seas, the humans of the West built precarious villages on the edge of oceanic chasms. They feared the dark waters where Heart, the Lord of the Deep, reigned. Whispered tales spoke of lights pulsing beneath the waves and voices promising power. Rustic altars adorned with shells and bones sprang up in homage to Heart, but fear overcame reverence.
Kayle-13, a former pragmatist, was also drawn to those voices. One stormy night while inspecting a coastal village, a projection of Heart emerged from the depths. Its armor glowed with alien runes. "Kayle-13," its voice boomed, deep as the roar of the ocean. "Join me. The depths hold the Makers' weapons — technology to forge kingdoms and conquer worlds. Why divide the Earth when we can rule it?"
Kayle-13 hesitated, clenching his fists. The allure of power consumed him, eroding his loyalty to the pact made on the Ecliptic. He imagined armies marching under his command and cities sparkling like those in the East. But the alien records deciphered by Lyra-9 echoed a warning in the recesses of his mind: the Creators punished those who dared to usurp their legacy.
As the storm raged on, Kayle-13 gazed at the horizon where the sea and sky converged. The pact was unraveling, and the Earth—a Jurassic experiment—trembled under the weight of the new gods.
